Dutch operator Oceanwide Expeditions is expanding their partnership with Rescompany Systems Ltd, to now include on-board Point of Sale and Property Management systems technology. The expedition cruise line already utilises Resco’s Central Reservations and Customer Relationship Management systems, as well as the Resco Web API to handle online bookings.

V-Ships will run the management on board MS Artania (currently operated by P&O Cruises under the name Artemis) and the vessel will be on full charter for the German tour operator Phoenix Reisen. The ship management company has decided for Resco SMS shipboard systems for this new venture.

The 1200 passenger ship will enter service for Phoenix Reisen end of May 2011.

Since 1973 Phoenix Reisen is providing exciting holiday experiences for their guests. Alongside open water cruises with MS Amadea, MS Albatros and MS Artania their portfolio covers the most popular holiday destinations around the Mediterranean, the land of the Pharaohs and cruises on rivers around the world.

TUI Cruises, a joint venture between Royal Caribbean Cruises and TUI AG, has signed with Rescompany Systems to supply the Resco SMS, a fully integrated shipboard property management system onboard the second TUI Cruises ship Mein Schiff 2. The decision was made easy following the successful installation of on board Mein Schiff in 2009.

Mein Schiff 2 will be officially named 14th of May 2011 in Hamburg. The ship will start its sailings with exciting itineraries to Norway and the Nordic regions.

Whilst there has always been a Europe office in Salzburg, the growing demand in the UK market has created the need to have a base in London. Rescompany has had a very successful second quarter to the year with a number of implementations being carried out across their product portfolio. Despite downward trends across many market sectors Rescompany has managed to keep extremely busy.

TUI Cruises, created in April 2008 as a joint venture between the USA based Royal Caribbean Cruises and TUI, has entered into a contract with Rescompany Systems to supply RESCO SMS, a fully integrated shipboard property management system, onboard of the first TUI Cruises ship. The decision was made because of the “one platform, one database, one system” concept that needs no separate POS.

Werner Englisch, Operations and Guest Services Director of TUI Cruises, explains: “After thorough evaluations we selected RESCO SMS due to its superior technological approach. The first TUI Cruises ship will enter service in May 2009. The four star plus ship, currently operated by Celebrity Cruises, will be renovated and subsequently will have space for 1,960 passengers. From May to September, cruises will go to northern Europe and the Baltic Sea. The ship will visit the Mediterranean in autumn and then cruise the Caribbean from November 2009 through to March 2010.

In a unique partnership Rescompany and MGJ are outfitting a total of six river ships in early 2009 with hardware and software running the proven RESCO SMS (Ship Management System) solution. But the service does not end with the installation of the systems, MGJ group provides those river cruise ships with a sophisticated infrastructure which is linked to a “24 hour service and support centre” that monitors all IT systems in real time. Such arrangements were only available to seagoing vessels until recently. During the past twelve months, Rescompany and MGJ have already installed four ships based on the same concept and the service provided proved so successful that the owners of those ships have now decided to roll out RESCO SMS and the associated services from MGJ to the remainder of their fleets.

A new era is starting for Rescompany with the obtainment of two additional software packages. IisiI Software specializes in the development of shipboard property management including inventory management and POS (Point of Sale) and currently has a total of 45 active shipboard installations. The second system called Meabis is a sophisticated hotel property management package. This system allows Rescompany to cover the specific requirements of hotels and combined with the RESCO CRS opens up opportunities for hotel chains.
